Become a foster hero

Open your home. Transform a life.

A foster home gives a dog or cat love, stability, basic training, and room to become adoption-ready. Most placements last four to six weeks, though medical and heartworm cases may need longer.

Why foster?

The foster network is the backbone of the rescue.

Limited boarding means foster homes make rescue and rehabilitation possible. Fosters teach home skills, reduce stress, reveal personality, and provide the observations that help Adoption Coordinators make lasting matches.

Save lives

Every open foster home creates room for another animal.

Foster FAQs

Short stay. Huge impact.

Why does fostering matter?

A loving home gives a rescue pet room to feel safe and thrive. Fostering frees rescue and shelter space so more lives can be saved, prepares pets for adoption through everyday manners and behavior, and gives the team valuable feedback for making the right family match.

What is the time commitment?

Most foster placements last four to six weeks. Some last longer when surgery, heartworm treatment, or extended rehabilitation is needed.

What costs does the rescue cover?

Approved medical care is covered for foster pets. Essential supplies are provided to Texas fosters only; supplies cannot be provided outside Texas.

Can I foster cats?

Yes. Houston-area cat and kitten fosters are especially needed, alongside dog fosters in Texas, the Pacific Northwest, and Northeast transport regions.

Cat fostering

Give a cat or kitten a quiet place to grow.

Cat fosters provide a safe indoor space, daily care, socialization, photos, and personality notes that help each animal become adoption-ready. Houston-area foster homes are especially important for kittens, nursing families, and cats recovering from medical care.
